New research into developing care services for patients with inherited eye diseases has been made possible by a £500.000 grant from an eye research charity.

Fight for Sight's grant will help Professor Graeme Black, director of the National Institute for Health Research Manchester Biomedical Research Centre, examine the current models of care for families with genetic retinal disease and use the findings to develop the best possible clinical and diagnostic care service over the next five years. More than half of childhood visual impairment is caused by genetic disorders, while one in 3,500 people in the UK are affected by inherited retinal diseases. (Lees meer...)
